Burna Boy – I Told Them ft. GZA
Burna Boy’s debut track from his latest album I Told Them… delivers a bold statement of defiance and swagger, and he’s brought in one of hip-hop’s most legendary voices to back it up. On “I Told Them,” the Nigerian superstar teams up with GZA of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan, creating a fusion of Afrobeats energy and New York street cred that immediately grabs attention. The chemistry between the two artists is palpable, with Burna Boy’s melodic flow meeting GZA’s sharp, rhythmic delivery for a track that feels both fresh and timeless.
Produced by the talented Harper Gordon, Kofo, and Telz, the song’s sound is rich and layered, blending lush instrumentation with a driving rhythm that keeps the momentum high. The production credits alone speak to the care put into crafting a track that balances Burna Boy’s signature Afrobeats charm with GZA’s gritty, narrative-driven style. Whether it’s the way the beats drop or the way the two artists lock in on their verses, this opening track sets the tone for what promises to be a powerful album.
As the first release from I Told Them…, “I Told Them” isn’t just a single—it’s a declaration. Burna Boy and GZA’s collaboration feels like a meeting of two iconic forces, each bringing their own flavor to the table while still letting their individuality shine. The track’s boldness and confidence make it a standout, proving that even on an artist’s home album, unexpected chemistry can create something truly special.
For fans of Burna Boy’s evolution or those who love the blend of African and global hip-hop influences, this track is a must-listen. With a production team that knows how to craft a hit, “I Told Them” is a strong start to what could be an unforgettable album.
