Mayorkun’s The Mayor of Lagos arrived in 2018 as a bold declaration of artistic vision, blending raw storytelling with the pulse of West African urban culture. This 14-track album showcases the artist’s knack for crafting anthems that resonate with the streets of Lagos, from the introspective opener “Feelings” featuring My Mum to the high-energy closer “Mama.” Tracks like “Oshepete” with D’Banj and “Bobo” featuring Davido highlight the album’s dynamic collaborations, while standouts like “Tire” and “Mofo” with Patoranking underscore Mayorkun’s signature blend of wit and rhythm.

The Mayor of Lagos isn’t just a collection of songs—it’s a snapshot of a city’s energy, where each track carries its own narrative. From the fantasy-driven “Fantasy” to the dramatic “Drama Queen,” the album balances introspection with infectious grooves, proving Mayorkun’s ability to merge personal reflection with the collective spirit of his hometown. Whether it’s the playful “Che Che” or the fiery “Red Handed,” the album remains a testament to his growth as an artist, solidifying his place in the conversation.
