Drake – Skepta Interlude
Drake’s "Skepta Interlude" from More Life offers a rare glimpse into the creative process behind one of the album’s most dynamic moments. Positioned as track ten on More Life, released in 2017, this track stands out as a reflective pause in Drake’s sprawling project, featuring a spoken-word segment by UK rapper Skepta. Though no producer credit is provided, the track’s raw, intimate tone contrasts sharply with the album’s polished production, making it a standout moment for fans of Drake’s more experimental side.
The interlude captures Skepta’s distinctive flow and lyrical depth, delivering a brief but powerful verse that bridges the gap between Drake’s Toronto roots and the global sound of More Life. While the album leans heavily into hip-hop and R&B influences, this track serves as a nod to the UK’s vibrant rap scene, adding a layer of authenticity to the project. Its placement near the end of the album suggests a deliberate choice to leave listeners with a moment of introspection before the final tracks.
"Skepta Interlude" remains one of the most memorable segments of More Life, not just for its guest appearance but for how it enhances the album’s emotional arc. Whether you’re a longtime Drake fan or new to his discography, this track offers a unique perspective on the creative collaborations that shaped the project. Its inclusion on the album highlights Drake’s ability to blend different styles while keeping the focus on storytelling.
