Drake – You & The 6
Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late remains one of his most introspective projects, and the closing track “You & The 6” stands out as a reflective closer. Produced by Matthew “Boi-1da” Samuels, the song blends introspective lyrics with a smooth, minimalist beat that lingers like a quiet epilogue. At track 15 on the album, released in 2015, it offers a moment of calm after the album’s more intense moments, with Drake’s voice weaving through a sparse production that keeps the focus on his delivery.
The track’s title hints at a duality—between the artist and an unseen figure, perhaps a confidant or even fate itself. Samuels’ production ensures the arrangement stays grounded, avoiding excess while still giving the song a warm, intimate feel. It’s a rare moment on the album where the energy shifts from the album’s earlier tension toward something more contemplative, making it one of the standout tracks for those who listen closely.
“You & The 6” may not get the same spotlight as some of Drake’s bigger hits, but its place on If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late feels intentional. The track’s understated production and reflective lyrics make it a fitting closer, offering a sense of closure to the album’s themes. For fans of Drake’s more introspective work, this is a track worth revisiting.
Production was handled by Matthew "Boi-1da" Samuels.
